Leguina 1891 treats this as a manuscript work by Don Miguel Perez de Mendoza y Quijada, subtitled Breve resumen de la verdadera destreza. He rejects the supposed printed Madrid 1665 witness titled Defensa de la Doctrina y Destreza de las Armas, noting instead that the author stated in 1666 that he had written three books which he wished to present to the king in manuscript.
