Gelli confirms the bilingual London 1771 issue, with frontispiece and eight plates by Ovenden, and uses it as the base state for the later revised 1780 edition.
Castle also records the 1771-1772 London bilingual Olivier first state.
Vigeant 1882 records Olivier's 1771 London issue as a bilingual French-English octavo with an animated salle d'armes frontispiece by Ovenden, eight copper plates, dedication, and preface. He says it presents the principles then taught by the Academie d'armes de Paris, where Olivier had studied.
