Pierre Massuet

French-born scholar, physician, editor, and prolific man of letters who spent much of his career in the Dutch Republic. He is relevant to this project through works on courtly and sword-bearing culture rather than as a fencing master, illustrating how duelling and the sword also entered broader eighteenth-century learned and moral literature.
