Leguina 1891 treats this Escorial manuscript as a sixteenth-century witness and, following Conrado Villaamil, describes it as one of the oldest known Castilian Renaissance texts on martial exercises, including wrestling, mounted and unmounted combat, armed and unarmed play, and horse and rider armour description.
