Manuscript German Switzerland

Anonymous work

Created from the Wiktenauer Manuscripts staging import. Source row 29. Signature: Cgm 558

Quality phase 334: Cgm 558 is a composite codex compiled in the 1530s. The date 1462 belongs to its Schwabenspiegel section, while the martial, hunting and falconry section associated with Hugo Wittenwiler is probably c. 1493.

Quality phase 388: corrected the modern country from Germany, the repository country, to Switzerland on the evidence of High Alemannic language and north-eastern Swiss/Toggenburg context. The codex contains III + 176 physical leaves; modern foliation skips eleven blank leaves.

Quality phase 334: 1493 is an approximate date for the martial section; 1462 dates the earlier legal section and the present codex was compiled in the 1530s.

Quality phase 388: replaced the 160 written-folio endpoint with the complete physical collation III + 176; modern foliation to 165 omits eleven blank leaves. Normalized dimensions to 270 × 200 mm and corrected the origin to Switzerland.
