Canonical witness from Wiktenauer Manuscripts source row 25. Source date: 1460. The identifier is included in the work title to prevent false duplicate matching.
Quality phase 333: Pembroke MS 243 is the earliest of four known witnesses of Knyghthode and Bataile, composed in 1458–1460 and presented to Henry VI. It is probably not an autograph copy.
Quality phase 387: superseded the categorical John Neele attribution. The current METS edition argues that Robert Parker is the likelier author but explicitly retains uncertainty; Neele remains documented as Wakelin’s earlier proposal. Internal historical references place composition after 1459 and before July 1460.
