De Arte Gladiatoria Dimicandi

Manuscript Italian Italy

Philippo di Vadi

Quality phase 339: MS Vitt.Em.1324 was written between 1482, when Guidobaldo became duke, and its appearance in the Urbino ducal library catalogue of 1487. Urbino is probable rather than certain. Vadi’s text draws substantially on Fiore dei Liberi while adding an original sixteen-chapter introduction.
