Regole della scherma

Book 1686 Italian France

Francesco Antonio Marcelli

Roman fencing treatise by Francesco Antonio Marcelli, first published in 1686 and presented as the codification of teachings from Lelio and Titta Marcelli. Castle confirms the 1686 Rome witness and its seven Marcelli portraits, while Gelli also preserves a reported but untraced 1689 second edition.

Vigeant 1882 preserves the Rome 1686 Marcelli treatise as a two-part codification of the teachings of Lelio and Titta Marcelli, with family portraits, text engravings, and a small bibliographic review at the front. He remarks that the naive plates were by the author himself.
