Gelli accepts 1765 as the best working date for O'Sullivan's book while noting the absence of absolute certainty, and strengthens that dating by pointing out that Danet cites the treatise as a recent publication in 1766.
Castle also records the Paris 1765 O'Sullivan witness under the same title family.
Vigeant 1882 notes that the 1765 date is surprising because Danet only lets the book's appearance be glimpsed in his 1766 treatise, and says Sullivan succinctly shows the principles then followed by the old Academie d'armes.
