The current Gelli OCR stream appears to read the Labat / Armaignac witness as 1606, but stronger bibliographic tradition and surviving facsimile references consistently identify the Toulouse edition as 1696. The catalogue therefore keeps 1696 and preserves Gelli's current reading only as an OCR or print-reading error.

Vigeant 1882 also preserves a brief Toulouse Labat notice circa 1690, with plates, but the notice is too short to justify a separate public work; it is retained here as family context pending stronger evidence.
Vigeant 1882 treats the 1696 Toulouse Armaignac witness as one of the serious technical books that helped establish the French school. He stresses its influence on later masters such as Angelo, Martin, and Andrew Mahon, and also notes the appended regulation of ancient assauts at Toulouse.
