Foundational Giganti fencing work printed at Venice in 1606, with Medici arms, author portrait by Edoardo Fialetti, and 42 out-of-text copper plates. Gelli also cites the short-form Scuola di Spada as a pointer to this same edition family and notes a later 1628 Padua edition.

Castle also records the 1606, 1608, and 1628 Giganti witnesses within the same Teatro family.

Vigeant 1882 ranks Giganti among the important early Italian masters, highlights the Medici frontispiece, author portrait, and 42 copperplates of the 1606 edition, and records the 1628 Padua second edition as a conforming reissue with the frontispiece suppressed.
