Vigeant 1882 identifies the 1775 Saint-Petersburg issue as the original edition of the Chevalier de Freville's Maximes et instructions sur l art de tirer les armes, with author portrait, and records a Leipzig second edition of 1799. The local 1799 shell is therefore normalized as a later edition of the 1775 family.
The 1776 Leipzig edition omitted from the first import was restored in phase 583; sources disagree whether the 1799 Leipzig issue is the second or third edition.
