German Freifechter, printer, mercenary, and fencing master from Nuremberg. After beginning in the printing trade, he turned fully to martial pursuits, travelled widely, and produced one of the better-known German rapier books of the early seventeenth century, drawing especially on Salvator Fabris and Ridolfo Capoferro.
