Scottish-born British painter, panoramic artist, traveller, writer and diplomat. Sir Robert Ker Porter studied under Benjamin West, recorded military and archaeological subjects, and later served as British consul in Venezuela; he illustrated later editions of Roworth’s Art of Defence on Foot.
